Construction Training for OSHA Compliance
Construction safety training for workers and supervisors is required in the Occupation Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) construction regulations (29 CFR 1926). Personnel at the construction site must receive training about the general hazards at the worksite and the OSHA standards that apply to them, and construction supervisors must be trained to identify hazards at the jobsite so they can take prompt corrective measures to protect their workers. Training for the competent person is also required in specific OSHA standards such as Excavations (subpart P).
The OSHA 10 hour training course in construction standards is typically provided for construction site workers, whereas OSHA 30 hour training for construction standards is usually provided for supervisors, foremen, and site safety managers. These courses can be taken online, or in a classroom setting. Excavation competent person training is usually provided for the competent person(s) in charge of worker safety at the the excavation site, as well as higher-level safety personnel, and is available as classroom training only.
